Forget Montana. There’s no bigger sky that can be found in the high country of the Rocky Mountains than the cowboy town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The town exists as an unlikely crossroads of culture. A little bit extravagant, a little bit country with vintage F.M. Light & Sons roadside signs beckoning you to shop Stetson hats, Wrangler denim and other such sundries. It’s a unique special coexistence.

Of course, the makeup of downtown changes for a week or so when the town is besieged by gravel racers in late August. That’s what building a gravel instant classic will do.
